On June 14th at Matthews Field in Thomaston, GA, NFL star Travon Walker welcomed young athletes from across the community to his 3rd Annual Under the Lights Youth Football Camp + Fun Fest — a day designed to inspire, educate, and connect with the next generation of football talent.
Held in his hometown, this special event brought together hundreds of kids eager to learn the fundamentals of the game while having a great time alongside friends, family, and coaches. For Travon, this camp is about much more than just football.
“My reasoning for giving back to my community is because I love seeing growth in areas that I once wanted to experience growing up as a kid. Me being in the position now to help out when I can also makes me feel as if I’m fulfilling the greatest purpose in this thing called “Life” which is helping inspire others to be a greater version of themselves 1% everyday!”
The Fun Fest kicked off at 4:00 PM, offering food, games, music, and activities for the whole family — creating a true celebration of community spirit. A highlight of the Fun Fest was a special autograph session featuring current University of Georgia Football players, including Chris Cole, Justin Williams, JJ Hanne, and Elijah Griffin, giving young fans the rare chance to meet some of college football’s rising stars.
Following the Fun Fest, the Youth Football Camp ran from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, offering hands-on drills, skill-building exercises, and motivational talks designed to encourage young athletes to dream big — both on and off the field. Travon’s message was clear: success comes from within.
“Something that I hope the kids and adults take away from me is that they don’t have to fall victim to the environment that they were raised in. It could always be worse, but as long as God wakes us up to see another day then we are beyond blessed with another opportunity to better whatever the situation is that we are facing”
Travon’s ongoing commitment to inspiring and empowering local youth continues to make a lasting impact, reminding everyone that greatness begins with confidence, effort, and a little fun along the way.
